What is your righteousness credit?

Are you waiting on a promise from God? How is your waiting working out for you? Are you discouraged? Do you want it now?

Waiting is hard, very hard. I know firsthand. God has put several big dreams in my heart and yes I’m still waiting.

My job is to be faithful every day to do what he’s called me to do for that day. Yes looking to the future is important, but not losing the day to day roadmap can be even more important.

It’s through this daily roadmap made up of small steps that I learn the most. It’s when I stop, ask for direction and listen that I find the bigger picture.

If God gave me my dreams in a short term way would I really appriacte them? Could I really count them as faith achieved? Would it be credited to me as righteousness? I doubt it.

Let’s face it, fast food is fast food. No one gets too excited about it but it will fill your tummy.

But a meal you have worked on, slaved over, taken the time to buy the best ingredients and prepare them with culinary delight. That really gets all your senses going.

It’s more than just filling your belly. It can be an amazing experience that delight you and stays with you for days. Most likely you’ll tell someone about it.

As the days, weeks and yes years go by I find that I need a faith checkup.

Just as I go to the doctor for my physical body I believe it’s a good idea to stop and do a faith checkup. Especially when I feel I need a boost.

God uses our waiting time to draw us to him, to teach us to be ready when our promise is fulfilled. Not if, but when.

I find great comfort in the scriptures. The promises in the bible that were written so long ago, but meant for me today, right now.

When my plans seems to be taking much longer than I expected. I can find comfort in a God who loves to do the impossible by our standards.

Just think about it. Abraham the Father of all nations (including us)gave birth to a son Isaac when he was around 100 years old and Sarah was in her late 90’s and clearly barren.

Did Abraham consider his own body’s age or his wife’s when God spoke to him? NO.

It says in Romans 4:20- He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God. V21- Being fully convinced that what He had promised He was able to perform. V22 So God therefore said “it was accounted (credited) to him for righteousness.

Is this just a story we read in the Bible or do we really believe it?

I’ve heard this story my whole life but I can’t say that I really ever thought about it deep enough until now.

Paul was really trying to get us to see and believe that as Christians we are called to have unwavering faith.

The faith of Abraham to grow in our walk with God so that our faith may be credited to us as righteousness. It’s not just a story in the bible to amuse us.

It’s to be internalized, read, and believed. It’s put here in scripture to encourage us in our daily walk. We are to not give up on the dreams within us. It’s to help us understand how much God loves us and wants for us.

He’s called us to greatness. The things we do for Him will be credited to us as righteousness. Our faith is important and a gift. This is not about works, but real faith a gift.

We all have a unique path a calling on our life if we are Christians.

I believe God is calling us out to be bold, to stand up for him, to know he is the same God who delivered the Children of Israel out of captivity and He can do the same for us.

He wants us to have the faith of Abraham to fulfill our mission in life no matter what our circumstances are.

It walking the path He has laid out for you daily that matters. It’s taking time to study, to learn, to listen and to rise up for Him.

So what are you waiting for? Can He use you? Are you willing to have faith and step out?

O father I pray that we will rise up and believe as Abraham did. You have given us the tools we need. You’ve given us your Son who paid the price for us to live free and to be full of the Holy Spirt abiding in us with you O Lord.

Give us the courage to walk today and every day for you. Help us find our path. The path you have set before us. Your will O Lord be done. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
